Ayatollah Khamenei says Iran does not seek nuclear weapons

Tehran, June 3, IRNA - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said here Tuesday that Iran is by no means after nuclear weapons.

"As it has repeatedly been announced, Iranian nation is not after nuclear arms. Americans too know the issue pretty well but since they can not explicitly deny absolute rights of the nation, they start levelling charges to convince the world public opinion," said the paramount leader.

He said Iranian nation and officials oppose nuclear arms on ideological and Islamic grounds but are determined to continue using peaceful nuclear energy.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remark in an address to large groups of mourners at Imam Khomeini mausoleum on the 19th
anniversary of the Islamic Republic late leader's departure.

The Supreme Leader said the US and certain other countries have repeatedly accused Iranian nation of attempting to acquire nuclear weapons.

"Of course, they would not have raised any opposition if exploitation of nuclear energy had made a nation dependent on the bullying powers as the said powers today conclude deals for construction of nuclear power plants with certain states, which are far behind the Iranian nation."

He said the reason for the arrogance's opposition against Iran's exploitation of nuclear energy is the fact that the nation has mastered the technology using its youth's power and profession without reliance on the bullying powers.

The Supreme Leader touched on the world arrogance's psychological war to make nations disappointed.

"When the world bullying powers fail to face a nation in the field of action, they resort to waging psychological war. The enemy has over the past 30 years used different ploys to wage psychological war against Iranian nation but to no avail."

He said any surrender to the bullying powers will make the powers further stubborn. "So, if a nation wants to get rid of the bullying powers and the US, they should stand against them with full power." The Ayatollah highly criticized the US and the Zionist Regime of Israel for levelling human rights violation accusations against Iran.

"Today Americans and Zionists, that have the darkest record on human rights violation, are levelling human rights violation charges against Iran, while no body will be ready to accept them." The Supreme Leader said Israel has become bete noire of Muslim nations.

"Alike great Iranian nation, Muslim nations today consider Israel as a forged and imposed regime. Muslim states however do not unfortunately go with their nations in that respect however." The Supreme Leader also ridiculed the US statesmen for their contradictory statements and approaches.

"The way they talk is like psychos talk. Sometimes they make threats, sometimes they issue terror order, sometimes they seek help out of helplessness and sometimes they raise accusations. They bang themselves (against the walls) like mad people."

Ayatollah Khamenei said other nations have started to follow Iran's model because they endear and respect ideals and aspirations of the Iranian people.

The Supreme Leader said the key to longevity of Iran's Islamic Revolution is its compatibility with needs of mankind.

"The key to durability and ever freshness of Iran's Islamic Revolution in the world and the region is its different dimensions balanced with needs of mankind," said Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Ayatollah said the late Imam Khomeini rose up with banner of Islam and opposition against hegemony.

"Islamic Revolution was different with all other revolutions: It was neither a mere spiritual and cultural revolution nor a mere economic and political revolution; rather, the Islamic Revolution was an all-out revolution like Islam ."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that as Islam has spiritual, moral and divine dimensions and supervises public life, the Islamic Revolution too has the same dimensions.

Also, the Supreme Leader warned the Iranian youth against the West's plot to make them busy with sex and drugs and asked them to foil the conspiracy.

"Today, combating organized plots of pushing the Iranian youth towards carnal desires, drugs or sexuality is a main duty of the Iranian people, particularly the youth... They (westerners) try to mislead the Iranian youth by spreading depravity, prostitution, and drugs through well-organized plans."
