IRANIAN COMPOSER RETURNS TO EUROPE TO RECORD AND PERFORM ORIGINAL SYMPHONIC COMPOSITION, AND PARTICIPATE IN VIENNA'S FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSIC, JULY 2008
On June 1, 2008 Sam Daghighian, a 36 year old Iranian Composer who grew up in Los Angeles, CA, was invited to participate in the 13 Annual Festival of New Music, in Vienna, Austria. The event will take place on July 4th & 5th, 2008 at Joseph Haydn Hall at the University of Music, Vienna. The OEZGM Orchestra will record and perform Sam Daghighian's new symphonic tone poem entitled Sonora Luna, Nava-e-Mah, under the baton of Maestro Andreas Herm Baumgarter.
Sam Daghighian, is a student of Iranian Musical Icon, Shardad Rohani. After completing his studies in Piano and Composition at California State University Northridge, Sam continues his prolific composition of modern orchestral, piano, and chamber music. Last April Sam traveled to Prague and recorded his composition, Sinfonia, with the legendary Prague Radio Philharmonic, scheduled for worldwide CD release in August 2008 on the ERM Media label.
The Festival of New Music, founded by Composer, Nancy Van De Vete, is in its 13th year of recognizing, recording and premiering works from composers worldwide. The OEGZM Orchestra is one of the most active and prestigious orchestras in Europe dedicated to performance of Modern Classical Works. Sound team, led by Dr. Frantisek Poul will record the festival, and Sam will be traveling to Vienna to oversee recordings and performances.
This opportunity, for a member of the Iranian Artistic Community in Los Angeles, to have his original music recorded and preformed in Vienna, the Heart of Classical Music, and heard internationally is an important and exiting event.
In summary, Sam Daghighian has been an active member of the Iranian musical community as composer, teacher, and student and is very proud to represent the community of Iranian Composers and Artists in this worldwide event.
