Tabriz, East Azarbaijan prov, June 15, IRNA - Researchers from the Chemistry Department of the University of Tabriz have synthesized bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) nanotubes for the fist time in the world, the executor of the research said.
"The Bi2S3 have been produced via Hydrothermal, Mahbobeh Dolatyari said.
Dolatyari noted that some 10 million rials were set aside for the project in 18 months.
"The project was conducted in cooperation with Younes Hanifehpour, Leila Kafi Ahmadi, Nasrin Mohseni, Roqiyeh Ebrahimi Kalan and Professor Abolali Alami," she said.
Bismuthinite is a mineral consisting of bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3).
It is an important ore for bismuth.
The crystals are steel-gray to off-white with a metallic luster.
It is soft enough to be scratched with a fingernail but rather dense.
Bismuthinite forms a series with the lead, copper, bismuth mineral alkinite (PbCuBiS3).
It occurs in hydrothermal veins with tourmaline-bearing copper veins associated with granite, in some high temperature gold veins, and in recent volcanic exhalation deposits.
