Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov, June 26, IRNA - Three terrorist groups were busted in the cities of Iranshahr and Sarbaz, a provincial police commander Gholam-Ali Nekouei said in Zahedan on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, he added that police forces in the province during operations in recent days arrested members of three teams of notorious terrorists who had been trained outside Iran.
"They had entered the province to carry out acts of terror and sabotage against officials and spread panic among local people. They were handed over to judicial officials for further investigation," Nekouei stated.
He said that Pakistan has no complete control over its border regions. Parts of its territory have been turned into a safe haven for notorious terrorists and bandits.
Press TV - An armed member of outlawed Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) has been killed by Iranian police in Saqez in northwestern Iran.
The militant, known as Sheikh Gharib Hassani, was killed on Wednesday evening when he clashed with the Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) in the border town. His cohort, trying to flee the scene, was wounded and arrested in the incident.
The outlawed group with Marxist-Leninist roots, was founded in Mahabad, Iran, on August 16, 1945. The group restructured the Komeley Jiyanewey Kurd (Council of Kurdish Resurrection) which had been formed three years earlier.
The PDKI currently chaired by Mustafa Hijri, calls for the secession of Kurdistan province from Iran.
