TEHRAN, March 1 (Mehr News Agency) -- Ninety Iranian artists are to take part in the 14th International Competition of Illustrations which is being held by the Venetian Teatrio Cultural Association in Italy on March 25 and 26.
The exhibit comprises three international sections entitled Ghosts and Get Away, Book Project and Glimpses and Views of Chioggia.
The competition's website describes the competition as "offering young illustrators the possibility to evaluate their talents through the structural analysis of an invented fairytale based on images, i.e. with no text. Its aim is to introduce new talent to Italian publishing houses."
Farideh Khalatbari Iranian writer and head of Shabaviz Children's Publications, who has been announced as a member of the jury of the gala, told MNA on Saturday that the competition will be based on the artistic techniques used in the submitted illustrations and that it is this characteristic that distinguishes the event from others of its type.
The Iranian participants have submitted works in all three sections of the competition which will be judged during a two-day exhibition, she added.
Shabaviz Children's Publications will also have a stand at Bologna Children's Book Fair which will be held from March 31 to April 3 in Italy. Khalatbari believes that the participation of Iranian publishers in international book fairs will improve the circumstances of Iranian writers by displaying their talents world-wide.
