Tehran, March 2, IRNA - Iran's Football Federation finally put an end to a long lasting confusion and appointed former heavyweight footballer Ali Daei as the new head coach of Iran's national squad.

Head of Football Federation Ali Kaffashian announced the news on Sunday.

Given his invaluable experiences and capabilities at international level, the Iranian federation appointed Ali Daei as the new head coach, he said.

Daei is to choose his assistance in the near future.

Daei is now acting as the head coach of Saipa club in the Iranian premier league.
