Walking for world peace, from London to the Persian Gulf


Kashan, Isfahan prov., March 2, IRNA - An Iranian who has been living in England for years, is walking from London to the Persian Gulf for the cause of world peace.

He arrived in Kashan on Saturday. He started his march on May 11, 2007.

Mohammad Samqani said the most important aim of his journey is to convey Iranian message of peace and friendship to the world.

He said he has walked more than 4,000 kilometers and has passed countries like the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungry, Serbia, Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia.

The 42-year-old man added, "I walk 35 kilometers a day." Samqani praised Iranian hospitality and kindness.

He is to walk another 1,800 kilometers to reach the Persian Gulf through provinces of Yazd, Kerman and Hormuzgan.

Samqani also admired beauty of ancient city of Kashan and its world famous carpet.
