Baghdad, March 3, IRNA - Seven memoranda of understanding were signed for promotion of Iran-Iraq cooperation on Monday in the presence of the Iranian and Iraqi presidents.
The documents were singed during an official ceremony held at the residence of President Jalal Talabani of Iraq in Baghdad.
The MoUs were related to Tehran-Baghdad cooperation on customs and insurance affairs as well as their cooperation in the fields of industry, transportation and development of mining industries.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Baghdad Sunday, heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation on a two-day official visit.
The historic visit is taking place at the official invitation of President Talabani.
The memorandum on Tehran-Baghdad cooperation in the field of insurance and customs affairs were signed by the Iranian and Iraqi ministers of finance while the document on the two countries' industrial cooperation was inked by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and the Iraqi minister of industry.
It is reported earlier that five to ten agreements would be signed by officials of the two neighboring countries during the visit of the Iranian delegation to Iraq.
The Iranian and Iraqi ministers of energy are also expected to attend a ground breaking ceremony for establishment of two power plants in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. The projects are to be carried out with the help of Iranian experts.
