Susan Amini |
Seattle, WA - Susan Amini, a dedicated
lawyer who has spent years helping the disadvantaged, is currently a candidate
for the position of Superior Court Position 1 in King County (Seattle),
Washington State. Susan is seeking the court seat soon to be vacated by Judge
Charles Mertel.
Born in Iran, Susan was educated at Catholic
schools in Tehran and Paris. She received her bachelor's degree from Tehran
University and J.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. Susan
is married to Mo Habib, and they currently live in Kirkland. Their son, Cyrus,
is a law student.
Susan has practiced law for 17 years. Her areas of specialization have included
family law, criminal law, and immigration. She has represented small business
owners, people fleeing persecution overseas and seeking asylum in the U.S.,
victims of child abuse and domestic violence, and the elderly at-risk.
In 1994, Susan began her own legal practice--the Amini Law Firm--in Bellevue.
She has been in private practice ever since. Prior to private practice, Susan
had worked for four years on behalf of economically disadvantaged clients in
Auburn, Burien, Federal Way, Kent, Renton and Seattle. Susan has also served as
a trustee of Overlake Hospital, a City of Bellevue Human Services Commissioner,
and as a pro tem judge in various courts throughout King County.
In her quest to become a Superior Court judge, Susan has been given a rating of
"Well Qualified" for the position by the King County Bar Association. The rating
was approved by the Bar Associations' Judicial Screening Committee. She has also
been rated "Exceptionally Well-Qualified" by the Latina/o Bar Association of
Washington. This rating was recommended by the LBAW Judicial Evaluations
Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
Garnering key endorsements from judicial and community leaders, Susan has a real
opportunity to win the November judicial election. If successful, she will
become the first American of Iranian descent to be elected to the Superior Court
in the state of Washington.
