Press TV -- Iran has taken home the first prize at the International Wushu competitions in the Choy Lay Fut category held in the city of Mashhad.

According to IRNA, Georgia and Afghanistan came second and third respectively in the competitions that ended on Friday.

Athletes from Russia, Georgia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and Iran took part in the two-day event, which began on Wednesday.

100 athletes competed in two young and adult age groups in the Taolu and Sanshou categories.

Wushu is both an exhibition and a full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts.
