TEHRAN, March. 08 (ISNA)-Iranian scientific communities and academic
associations expressed widespread condemnation of Google's map that shows
Persian Gulf under fabricated title of "Arabian Gulf!"
Library and
Information Science Association (ILISA) president Rahmatollah Fattahi has
represented these communities in his letter to Google Corporation.
The
text of his letter is as below:
"On behalf of
the Library and Information Science profession in Iran, I would like to express
my protest against your new decision regarding the addition of "Arabian Gulf"
parallel to "Persian Gulf" on the map of the Persian Gulf region.
I strongly
suggest that you rethink about the case. Please refer to all historical atlases
of the region as well as of the world and realize that there has not been such a
phrase (i.e.," Arabian Gulf") in any of them. In other words, there is no
historical basis for the fabricated "Arabian Gulf". This can be considered as
false information to people.
