TEHRAN, March 10 (Mehr News Agency) -- The Iraqi government spokesman said in Baghdad on Saturday that the United States is responsible for the postponement of the fourth round of Iran-U.S. talks on the security situation in Iraq.
"The failure of the U.S. side to attend a scheduled meeting with the Iranian side was the reason for the postponement of the meeting," Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said in a press conference broadcast by Radio Sawa.
The government of Iraq will hold negotiations with the Iranian and U.S. sides to try to reschedule the Iran-U.S. talks, he added.
Upon his arrival in Baghdad on Wednesday, the head of the Iranian delegation, Reza Amiri Moqaddam, announced that the Iran-U.S. talks would be held on Thursday, but the U.S. side cancelled the meeting.
No date has yet been set for the fourth round of negotiations, the Iraqi government spokesman stated.
The Islamic Republic and the U.S. have held three rounds of talks on Iraq on May 28, July 24, and August 6, 2007.
