Khalkhal, March 24, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale trembled Khalkhal in Ardebil province on Sunday.

The quake was registered at 16:14 hours local time (11:44 GMT).

No casualty is reported but at least 30 houses levelled to the ground and 100 others damaged.

IRNA reporter in Khalkhal said that he got reports on damages to livestock.

Iran is often shaken by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
