Iran performs revolutionary brain surgery

Press TV -- For the first time in Iran, Tehran University scholars have performed a cerebral vascular surgery using Valor Medical's Neucrylate AN.

According to the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Dr Ramin Pakbaz, an Iranian associate professor in San Diego University has performed the operation in association with the surgery team in the radiology department of Imam Khomeini Hospital.

The surgeon maintained that the total procedure time was significantly less using liquid substances compared with stents and coils, previously used to treat arteriovenous malformation.

Scientist believes the new technique will soon become an affordable substitute for common surgical procedures.

Valor Medical's Neucrylate AN, first produced by Pakbaz and Kreber, is injected into the cerebral aneurysm and enables the surgeon to fill the aneurysm regardless of shape, a property not found in implantable coils.
