Boroujerd,
Lorestan prov, May 1, IRNA -- Some 70 people suffered minor injuries after a
strong 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted suburbs of the city of Boroujerd in this
western province early Thursday morning.
The Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the earthquake at 04:45
hours local time (0015 GMT).
A local official told IRNA that the quake sent the panic-stricken residents of
Boroujerd to streets especially after its was followed by two aftershocks.
The earthquake also shattered windows of a number of the city's buildings but
there was no reports yet of serious damage caused by the earthquake.
Iran is often shaken by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the
world's most active seismic fault lines.
