KANAZAWA, Japan, May. 2(Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's weightlifting team came in second place on Thursday in the 39th Asian Weightlifting Championship in Kanazawa, Japan. Iran bagged 6 gold medals, 3 silver and 2 bronze in the tournament. China won the championship with 12 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze.

Iraq took third spot with 3 gold, followed by Vietnam and South Korea, respectively.

Iran's Asghar Ebrahimi and Rashid Sharifi snatched 6 gold medals in the tourney.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Asian duo powerhouse, surprisingly came in 13th and 14th place.
