Press TV - The Russian contractor for Iran's nuclear power plant project suspends sending cargoes destined for Iran via the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Citing sources with Atomstroiexport, ITAR-TASS news agency said the company would no longer dispatch supplies destined for the Bushehr nuclear power plant via Azerbaijan.
The announcement comes after Azerbaijan seized a company's shipment of nuclear equipment to Iran on May 29, claiming Atomstroiexport did not provide the country with required documents.
Azerbaijan, however, released the shipment after Russia provided the documents and shortly afterwards its receipt was confirmed in Iran.
The company's spokesman Irina Yesipova said on Monday that the issue of dispatching nuclear cargoes via Azerbaijan is subject to further talks.
Delays on the part of the Russian contractor have so far prevented the launch of Iran's first nuclear power plant. In December 2007, Atomstroiexport chairman Sergey Shmatko said that power plant would not be commissioned earlier than late 2008.
