Tehran, May 17, IRNA - Persian Gulf is the new hub of petrochemical products in the world, head of American CMAI company said on Saturday.
Addressing the 8th meeting of Iran's Petrochemical Forum in Tehran, Gary Adams noted that in the past the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana were considered as the petrochemicals hub across the world, indicating that the Persian Gulf has turned into a new hub of petrochemical products.
Referring to some changes which have taken place in international markets, he noted that some other opportunities should be created in the world in this respect.
Referring to soaring oil prices, he underlined that new capacities should be established in different fields of petrochemical industry.
"In the next 25 years, the regional states will have the lion's share of the world's petrochemical products," Adams anticipated.
The eighth meeting of Iran's Petrochemical Forum was inaugurated in Tehran Saturday in the presence of Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari.
Senior experts from domestic and foreign companies are participating in the two-day gathering.
Representatives from 118 Iranian companies as well as over 76 foreign companies from 27 countries are present at the gathering.
Participants of the international conference would discuss present and future challenges facing Iran and world's energy sector and the petrochemical industry.
The role of refining in petrochemical industry, prospects of the industry as well as technologies related to petrochemical industry are among other major topics to be discussed in the forum.
