Amman, Nov 6, IRNA - Greco-Roman Wrestling Team of Tehran Branch of Islamic Open University that has participated at 2008 Amman Asian Clubs Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship ranked first here Wednesday night at the closing ceremony of the games.
According to IRNA correspondent in Amman, at the end of the games at Jordan's capital city, the host country's participating club ranked second and the Qatari club's team ranked 3rd.
The Islamic Open University champions had won three more gold medals and one more silver on the last day of the games.
At 60 Kg category Mohammad Qazaie who had a rest period at the first round of the Wednesday games beat his Jordanian and Palestinian competitors at the 2nd and 3rd rounds respectively.
At 66 Kg category, too, Ali Mohammadi beat wrestlers from Jordan, Palestine, and Qatar at three consecutive rounds.
Davoud Akhbari beat competitors from Qatar and Palestine at 84 Kg category, but lost to the home club team's wrestler to win the silver medal of that weigh.
At 120 Kg category Mahdi Sharabiani beat two competitors from Jordan to reach the final where he beat a Palestinian club's finalist to win the weigh's gold medal.
On Tuesday, the first day of the games, too, three Iranian champions had won gold medals.
At 55 Kg category Yasin Bahramipour beat his Jordanian competitor at the final to win the games' gold medal.
Also at the 74 and 86 Kg categories, Farshad Alizadeh and Mohammad Qorbani beat competitors from Jordan and Qatar respectively at the finals to win the gold medals of both weighs.
Free Style wrestlers from Tehran's Oil Club, representatives of our country at the games, are also due to arrive in Amman for weighing of the 2008 Amman Asian Clubs Free Style Championship and will begin their competitions as of Thursday morning.
Iran's international referee Akbar Tahmasbi whistles at both the Greco-Roman and the Free Style games of the games on behalf of FILA.
