Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA - The deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance said here on Monday that the 15th International Press and News Agencies Exhibition was highly welcomed by people.
Addressing reporters, Alireza Malekan stated the event is being successfully held independently from the International Book Exhibition, for the second continuous year.
"The undertaking is the best opportunity for reviewing public opinion and evaluating the strong and weak points of mass media," he said.
Malekan said the 30-year achievements of public relations and governmental institutions are also being displayed in the event.
"A total of 27 countries are invited to the event including Italy, Pakistan, Turkey, China, Japan, Iraq, France, Palestine, and Venezuela," he said.
He added over 3000 works by journalists, photojournalists and writers were submitted to the secretariat of the festival of which the jury selected a collection.
Malekan also mentioned that the festival contains the major section and special sections, which include the 60th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine, the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom.
"Over 400 publications and news agencies are participating in this year's festival," he said.
The exhibition was inaugurated on November 16 and will run until November 23.
The event aims to promote culture of press reading among people in the society.
