Different teaching-related materials were taught
to the participants of the course.
Ali Mohammad Helmi, the Cultural Consul of the Iranian Embassy, told IRNA the
workshop aims to boost the teaching skills of teachers in Iranian weekend
schools in the UK.
"We identified the number of Iranian weekend schools and their requirements and
organized them into the Federation of Persian Schools in Britain," he said,
adding that the refresher course is only part of the programs of the federation
to boost the quality of teaching in such schools.
There are currently 30 Iranian weekend schools across the UK, according to Helmi.
The two-day workshop was previously held in Sheffield for Iranian teachers in
north of England.
A specialized meeting was also held on Thursday in Oxford University with the
students of Persian language and literature.
Helmi said educational facilities have been provided for such students to pursue
their postgraduate studies in Iranian universities.
Referring to the significance of maintaining the Persian language and cultural
identity of Iranians living abroad, the official urged Iranian nationals to help
preserve their cultural identity and language specifics.
He said the most important challenge on the way of teachers in Iranian weekend
schools is the lack of material and different knowledge level of students.
