Cyrus the Great (c. 600 BC or 576 - August 530 BC or 529 BC), also known as Cyrus II of Persia and Cyrus the Elder, was a Persian Shahanshah (Emperor). He was the founder of the Persian Empire under the Achaemenid dynasty.

Cyrus Tomb is located in Pasargadae, a city in ancient Persia, which is today an archaeological site and one of Iran's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The first capital of the Achaemenid Empire, Pasargadae, lies in ruins 43 kilometers from Persepolis, in present-day Fars province of Iran.
