Tehran, Nov 30, IRNA - IAEA's Representative to Iran Christer Viktorsson said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is now fully cooperating with IAEA to maintain safety of Bushehr nuclear power plant.
He made the remark in his address to the First International Seminar on Nuclear Power Plant, Environment and Sustainable Development in Tehran on Sunday.
Cooperation between IAEA and Iran on the security and safety of Bushehr nuclear power plant is in line with existing protocols and agreements, he said.
Technical points should be observed in the construction of nuclear power plants, he said, adding that there are lots of countries in Asia seeking to benefit from nuclear energy to meet their domestic needs.
Many Asian countries mainly in Southeast Asia as well as in the Middle East region call for replacement of fossil fuel with nuclear energy and seek to win support of IAEA to this effect, he said.
IAEA renders any services to meet safety demands during setting up of new nuclear power plants, he said.
Iran has observed all safety requirements for construction of Bushehr nuclear power plant, he said.
Nov 30, IRNA - Deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Saeedi
said on Sunday that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is now
monitoring 5,000 operating centrifuges in Natanz facilities.
Saeedi made the remark on the sidelines of the First International Seminar on 'Nuclear Power Plants, Environment and Sustainable Development' in Tehran on Sunday.
There is no concern over peaceful application of such centrifuges because the IAEA monitors all of them one by one and even pay snap inspection to control their activities.
IAEA in its recent report has confirmed that Iran had increased the umber of operating centrifuges in Natanz from 3,800 to about 5,000, he said.
Since Iran has had very close cooperation with IAEA and it has remained committed to its Modality Plan, Iran's nuclear dossier should return from UNSC to IAEA, he said.
On Bushehr nuclear power plant, Saeedi said most parts of the job has been accomplished and the nuclear power plant will become operational next year.
