Paris, Oct 8, IRNA - The 1st European Congress of Iranian Agricultural sciences and Natural Resource Researchers was convened at Paris University Wednesday in the presence of some 70 Iranian and French academics.
Iran's Ambassador to Paris, Ali Ahani, appreciated the "initiators of the important move", pointing out that it is also in line with the nomination of the current Iranian year as the Year for Innovations and Blossoming by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Ahani added, "This great initiative and this esteemed congress provide a golden opportunity for exchange of scientific viewpoints and research experience in agricultural sciences and natural resources fields among our country's researchers and French professors."
He said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, despite entire pressure imposed by totalitarian powers, is the scene for scientific innovations of our youth in various fields, particularly in the nuclear sciences for peaceful purposes."
The Iranian ambassador emphasized, "Relying on tireless efforts, the great Iranian nation has managed to prove that achieving goals in modern technological and scientific fields is a no return, ever onward path, that the era for monopoly in modern technologies is over, and that there are no insiders and outsiders in the realm of sciences in the world."
Ahani added, "Keeping in mind the priority attached to environmental and agricultural sciences by top Iranian officials, this congress can in addition to providing an appropriate path for greater scientific ties between the Iranian and French researchers, become a channel for exchange of innovative scientific achievements between the two countries' researchers."
The two-day European Congress of Iranian Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Researchers was opened at Paris University in the presence of a number of professors of the Iranian universities and some French academic officials on Wednesday.
The French Association of Agronomy that is an NGO, actively participating in scientific works.
Head of the said association, Mohammad Mir, who is also the secretary of the congress, referred to the broad presence of Iranian and French university and professors, as well as Iranian PhD students from various European countries at the congress, adding, "This congress provides a mutual opportunity for the Iranian and European researchers to exchange experience."
He also pointed out that the Association of the Iranian and French Agricultural and Natural Resource Researchers was established in Paris eleven months ago, aimed at boosting scientific cooperation between Iran and France.
