Tabriz, East Azarbaijan prov, Oct 8, IRNA - Founder of modern anesthesia in Iran, Professor Ali Far was honored in Tabriz on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Tenth National Congress on Anesthesia.
Professor Far was born in Tabriz in 1916. After he completed his primary and high school education in the city, he went to the US to continue his studies.
He returned home upon completion of his education in that country and contributed a lot to the country's progress in the field of anesthesia.
He was the first who applied principles of modern anesthesia in the country.
Far, who is residing in the US, now serves as senior advisor to one of the biggest specialized companies producing anesthesia drugs and equipment.
Professor Far, 92, currently directs two advanced research projects for making modern anesthesia equipment and enjoy international fame in the field.
Far who could not attend the event due to old age sent a message to the congress.
Part of the message said, "Love in the country, my work and family is a divine blessing for me and I will never lose it as long as I am alive."
A plaque of honor as well as awards were presented to his son during the event.
Tenth three-day congress on anesthesia and special medical cares opened Wednesday in Shahriar Hotel in Tabriz with the aim of reviewing the latest achievements in the field.
