Press TV - Iran has gained an easy 4-1 victory over Singapore in Group A of the Asian Football Confederation under-16 Championship in Uzbekistan.
The Iranian side dominated from start to finish. Mehrgan Golbarg scored the opener on Ali Darvishi's right wing free kick 14 minutes from half time on Wednesday.
Darvishi managed to double Iran's lead six minutes into the second half.
The Iranian outfit added a third thanks to an own goal from Kenneth Chang on striker Rezaei's scuffed shot in the 67th minute.
Singapore's Muhammad Al Qaasimy rounded off a swift counterattack with still nine minutes to go. Substitute Farhad Qolizadeh tapped home to wrap up the win for dominant Iran five minutes from time.
Iran had already advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Bahrain 2-0 in its opening game and defeating host Uzbekistan 2-1 in its second.
Iran will face Syria in the quarterfinals on October 12, while Uzbekistan will clash with South Korea.
Sixteen teams are participating in the Asian Football Confederation U-16 Championships on 4-18 October.
