TEHRAN -- Iran needed just 50 seconds to seal a shining victory over Italy to advance to the final four on Tuesday in the second stage of the 2008 Futsal World Cup.
Iran faced the Azzurri without two of their key players, captain Vahid Shamsaee and Mohammad Keshavarz, both of whom are suspended.
The Persian team recovered from two goals down to draw the important match.
Grana put the Italian team ahead in the 2nd and 9th minute. But an epic performance from Iranians changed the spectators' ideas. Iran's Masoud Daneshvar in the 11th minute and Ebrahim Masoudi in 13th equalized the match. One minute later, Nora from Italy changed the scoreboard once again.
Mohammad Hashemzadeh leveled the match in the 26th minute and Mohammad Taheri's long shot went past Italy's keeper in the 28th minute.
Fabiano equalized the match in the 31st minute to escape elimination.
Hassanzadeh sent Iran to the last four in the 36th minute again. Iran was preparing to celebrate the advance to last four for the second time after Hong Kong 1992 but Edgar Bertoni struck a last-gasp equalizer to secure a place in the last four for Italy as the Azzurri came from behind to clinch a thrilling 5-5 draw with Iran.
Brazil had already booked a place in semi-final with nine points
