TEHRAN, Sept. 1 (Mehr News Agency) -- Bolivian President Juan Evo Morales Ayma on Monday described his trip to Iran as historic, saying, "This visit is very important for me since we are determined to establish the two nations' political relations."
The visit is being made in response to Mr. Ahmadinejad's visit to Bolivia, and it shows that the two nations are seeking to strengthen their political ties, Morales stated.
The Bolivian president also said he would try to expand relations in the spheres of trade and investment during his visit.
Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad also said that political and economic ties between Iran and Bolivia will be expanded.
"The Iranian and Bolivian nations will stand together under all circumstances and will expand their industrial, agricultural, economic, and political relations," he said at a press conference with the visiting Bolivian president.
Ahmadinejad also noted, "I appreciate the genius of Mr. Morales and also (the fact that) his nation stood up in the heart of the Latin America and maintained their freedom, dignity, and interests."
The president emphasized that Iran backs the Bolivian government and nation.
"The president of Bolivia is a revolutionary president who came to power from among a revolutionary people. The Bolivian nation has reached a great triumph after a long period of domination. The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly supports the Bolivian government and nation," he stated.
