We have developed blood vessel precursor cells --hemangioblasts -- from embryonic stem cells, Fardin Fathi, who led the study, told the Mehr News Agency here on Monday.
According to Fathi, their study involved partial differentiation of embryonic stem cells, leading them to grow into hemangioblasts and then injecting the hemangioblasts into the damaged cells of mice.
Results showed the reparative effect of hemangioblasts in repairing the vasculatures, Fathi, also a member of medical faculty of Kordestan Medical Sciences University, said.
He expressed hope that our researchers would expand the use of embryonic stem cells for producing blood vessel precursor cells in different parts of human body.
