Tabriz, West Azarbaijan prov, Sept 3, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale caused minor damage to suburbs of Hadi-Shahr city in Iran's northwestern province of West Azarbaijan early Wednesday morning.
The provincial seismological center affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the quake at 00:30 hours local time (2000 GMT Tuesday night).
Two nearby villages of 'Harzand' and 'Oryantappeh' were slightly damaged by the tremor which was epicentered in an area located in 38.73 degrees in latitude and 45.69 degrees in longitude.
A villager was hospitalized due to injuries caused by the earthquake.
Hadi-Shahr is located some 140 km north of the provincial capital of Tabriz and north of 'Mishu' seismic fault line.
Iran is often shaken by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
