New Delhi, Sept 3, IRNA - Iran Air flight IR-811 made emergency landing at Sahar International Airport of Mumbai Tuesday night after one of its engine caught fire.
There were 291 passengers on-board when the aircraft made the emergency landing. All the passengers are safe.
The Islamic Republic of Iran's official airlines Iran Air plane returned to Mumbai airport at 1030 hours local time in emergency landing after the pilot received fire signal.
The flight had left the Mumbai airport at 2130 hour local for Tehran carrying 291 passengers.
Few minutes after the take-off the pilot requested for emergency landing back at Mumbai airport's control tower on receiving the fire signal of the Boeing 747 plane.
Airport authorities said the plane landed safely and all the passengers aboard the plane were safe too.
According to local media and airport authorities the same airliner will be sent back to Tehran after receiving clearance from the technical experts after being repaired.
The cause of the fire is yet to be detected.
Meanwhile another flight from south Indian city of Cochin to Muscat also made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport due to some major problem on plane.
The Indian Airlines' plane which was carrying more than 400 passengers to Muscat sent the distress signal and was asked to land at Mumbai's Sahar International Airport.
The Indian carrier landed safely with all its passengers and crew.
