15 countries eager to invest in Iran's oil and gas sector


TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (Mehr News Agency) - The vice president for investment affairs at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) here on Wednesday announced that 15 European and Asian countries are eager to invest in Iran's oil and gas sector.

Talking to Fars News Agency, Hojjatolah Ghanimifard said that Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Russia, India, China, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia are the countries that are negotiating with Iran to get involved in its oil and gas projects.

He added that there were no legal limitations for the domestic or foreign investment in midstream or downstream oil sectors.

According to IRINN, the official went on saying that the countries which have proper financial resources, equipment, and technology for the midstream and downstream projects have priority for investment.

Several long negotiations have been held with countries which have first class international oil companies, Ghanimifard pointed out.
 

SP Phase 9 to start production in 3 months

TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (Mehr News Agency) - Phase 9 of the South Pars gas field is projected to come on stream in the Iranian month of Azar (Nov. 21-Dec. 20), National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC) managing director said here on Wednesday.

"At present, natural gas refineries in phases 9 & 10 are in operation using the sweet gas injected from the national gas network," Roknoddin Javadi explained, noting that the Phase 9 refinery will be ready to use sour gas from mid-October, the Mehr News Agency reported.

He also stated that South Pars phases 9 & 10 are 91 percent complete


Iran to boost heavy crude refining capacity

TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (Mehr News Agency) - The construction of new heavy and extra-heavy crude oil refineries is on the Oil Ministry's agenda, the manager of the refining affairs department of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) said here on Wednesday.

"At present, only Bandar Abbas refinery is capable of refining heavy crude oil," Aminollah Eskandari explained, Mehr News Agency reported.

"Khuzestan refinery is designed to refine 180,000 barrels of heavy crude oil daily," he said, adding that the refinery is at the basic engineering designing phase. With 5 percent of physical progress done by now, it is anticipated that it would be commissioned by 2011.
