BEIJING - The Iranian sitting volleyball team beat Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday in the final of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics to take its fifth gold medal in the past six Paralympics.
Iran defeated the Athens Paralympics gold medalists in three consecutive sets (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) at the CAU Gymnasium in Beijing.
Russia defeated Egypt 3-2 in the bronze medal match earlier in the day.
Iran has dominated sitting volleyball for the past two decades, having won the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul, 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta, and 2000 Sydney Paralympics.
Iran was beaten by Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 2004 Athens Paralympics final and took home the silver medal.
The members of Iran's sitting volleyball team will receive a cash prize of $1000 from their government for winning the gold.
