Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale rattled the city of Bandar Abbas in the southern province of Hormuzgan on Wednesday.
The Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the tremor at 22:13 local time (1743 GMT).
The earthquake's epicenter was in an area located in 56.08 degrees in longitude and 27.19 degrees in latitude.
Meanwhile the city was repeatedly jolted by several aftershocks of varying magnitudes including two 4.1 and 4 tremors.
Although the quakes sparked panic among local residents, there is no report of any casualty or damage to property caused by the trembles yet.
A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted Qeshm island and Bandar Khamir in Hormuzgan province on September 20 at 15:30 local time (1100 GMT) killing seven people and injuring 45 more on the Persian Gulf island.
The quake also damaged around 100 houses in the rural areas.
