TEHRAN, Sept. 24 (Mehr News Agency)--Saipa of Iran was trounced by Uzbekistan's Kuruvchi in the second leg of the Asian Champions League (ACL) quarter-final on Wednesday.
Saipa suffered a heavy 5-1 loss against Kuruvchi in Tashkent's MHSK Stadium.Pierre Littbarski's team was held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg last week.
Villanueva gave Mirdjalal Kasimov's side an early lead in the 9th minute. He doubled the score nine minutes later from the penalty spot. Brazilian veteran Rivaldo trebled the score in the last minute of the first half.
Saber Mirghorbani gave Saipa a boost three minutes into the second half but Villanueva's header poured cold water on the Iranian team's hopes in the 52nd minute. Kuruvchi's Luizao scored one more time and the match eventually finished 5-1.
Saipa was eliminated from the competitions.
