Mayeli-Kohan named head coach of Iran National Football Team

Tehran, April 7, IRNA - Head of Iranian Football Federation (IFF) Ali Kaffashian said in Tehran Monday night Mohammad Mayeli-Kohan is appointed as the head coach of IRI National Football Team.

Speaking with the sports reporters of the mass media and sports press, Kaffashian added, "Mayeli-Kohan got the highest vote of the presiding board of the IFF for the position.

He added, "If consensus had not been reached over Mayeli-Kohan, our 2nd and 3rd choices included Mahmoud Yavari and Amir Qalehnoie respectively.

Focusing on the date when the new head coach of the Iranian football Team would take the lead, the head of the Footbal Federation said, "Mayeli-Kohan would begin his work with the team in early May, 2009, after the end of the Super League to prepare the Iranian side for their three upcoming games against North Korea, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea."

Kaffashian said that Mayeli-Kohan's assistance would based on his own request be Mansour Ebrahimzadeh.
