Reformist presidential hopeful Mir-Hossein Mousavi attributes problems to
ever-changing strategies and vows to stabilize Iranian policies.

Iranian presidential hopeful Mir-Hossein Mousavi
We must adopt a policy of détente and build
confidence in the international arena to protect our national interests, Mousavi
told reporters in the first press conference since announcing his presidential
bid.
He went on to say Iran should cooperate with countries seeking cordial relations
with the Islamic Republic while remaining committed to its principles.

The former prime minister warned
against off-the-cuff foreign policy moves as they could negatively influence
Iran's position in the world.
Mousavi, who served as the last prime minister of Iran until the post was
abolished, is widely remembered for steering the country out of an economic
meltdown during the times of economic uncertainty in the 1980s when an
eight-year war imposed on Iran by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

He is currently a member of Iran's
Expediency Council and is favored by some in the Reformist camp due to his
policies.
Mousavi recently criticized the
administration of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and questioned its spending
policies.
