Iran's Football Federation approved resignation of newly appointed national soccer team head coach Mohammad Mayeli Kohan. He had taken over the national team from Ali Daei on April 6.
The Federation will install the new head coach by April 26, the federation's Chairman Ali Kafashian told Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA).
Earlier today Kafashian had said the federation's presidium will mull over the resignation of Mayeli Kohan either on Thursday or Saturday.
Asked whether the new head coach is selected from among previous options, he said they are still in our list but the list may also include other choices.
He then appreciated Mayeli Kohan's endeavors for the soccer team.
Mayelikohan submitted his resignation to Iran's Football Federation officials after he launched a verbal attack on Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei.
Mayelikohan, who is also Saipa football coach, issued a statement on Sunday in which he accused Esteghlal coach of being an agitator.
Iran is scheduled to play North Korea on June 6. The team is fourth in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in Group Two with six points, behind North and South Korea and Saudi Arabia respectively.
