Iran's Sharif University placed 14th in ACM Programming Contest

Tehran, April 22, IRNA -- Programming Group of Sharif University of Technology ranked 14th at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest held in Sweden.

Announcing this, executive director of Iran's ACM Programming Contest, Yahya Tabesh told IRNA Wednesday that the final stage of the event was held in Stockholm Tuesday with the participation of 100 top teams in the world.

He added that Sharif University of Technology solved six problems while Amir Kabir University of Technology solved four to take the 34th place at the event.

Russia's Saint Petersburg University stood first while the Chinese Tsinghua University came second, he noted.

The contest is organized by Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in two stages annually with the aim of encouraging students to undertake creative activities and accessing advanced skills in computer programming.

ACM is the most prestigious association on computer sciences in the world.
