TEHRAN, Aug. 4 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian composer Amirhossein Eslami Mirabadi won the first prize for his composition "Parsi" at the 2 Agosto International Composing Competition in Bologna, Italy.
The piece was performed by the Orchestra and
Choir of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Osman Gioia accompanied by
the Iranian baritone soloist Vahid Taj on August 2 at the Piazza Maggiore,
The piece will also be performed at the International W. A. Mozart Festival in Rovereto by the Torino Philharmonic Orchestra on September 27.
Born in 1971 in Isfahan, Eslami Mirabadi began
his career in 1986 playing the ney (Iranian flute). He got his M. A. in
Composition from the University of Tehran in 2002.
He gave several concerts and composed many pieces which were awarded in Iran. His recent album "The Silent Castle" was released by the Sorush Publications in memory of the Bam earthquake on 26 December 2003.
The competition is held in commemoration of the victims of the terrorist bombing, known as the Bologna massacre, which occurred at the Central Station of Bologna on the morning of 2 August 1980.
