TEHRAN, Aug. 5 (Mehr News Agency) -- Sweden's Uppsala University is planning to hold a seminar on Iranian folklore and the country's different ethnic languages in collaboration with the office of Iran's cultural attaché in Stockholm, some time in the future.
Iran's ambassador to Sweden, Rasul Eslami, met with Carina Jahani, professor of Iranian Studies at the Department of Asian and African Languages at Uppsala University, on Monday and discussed ways to boost educational activities and organize the seminar.
Jahani talked about the activities of the department and said that 32 foreign students are currently studying Persian at different educational levels, adding, "The students at the BA level are dispatched to Iran for a four-month course to learn Persian in Iran and so far Iranian universities have cooperated well."
Eslami also expressed his appreciation to Jahani and her colleagues for their efforts to introduce Persian art and culture to the world. He also emphasized the need to strengthen relations between students and professors of Iranian studies and the Persian language based at Uppsala University with their counterparts at Iranian universities.
They also discussed the possibility of establishing an Iranian studies center at the university, expanding the university's library, and organizing cultural and academic meetings.
