TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (Mehr News Agency) - MP Mohammad Karamirad believes that the names of those police officers who had violated law in their treatment of prisoners detained after the election be announced to the public in an open court.
The MP made the remarks as the Law Enforcement Forces has formed a special committee to investigate the issue.
"The society should be informed of the incidents that have happened. The names of the lawbreakers should be announced, their violations examined, and their sentences should be in accordance with the crimes they have committed," he told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday
Karamirad added, "There is an expectation that the trial of these lawbreaker officers be open and the violators reveal all issues including whether they have an order to do so or they have been self-willed. All aspects of these issues should become clear to the people. "
Commenting on the Kahrizak detention center, the MP stated, "Kahrizak has been a place for keeping thugs... It seems that those who have been arrested under political or riot charges have received the same treatments (as the thugs)."
The Kahrizak detention center, which is located south of Tehran, was recently closed down on the orders of the Supreme Leader.
The member of the Majlis special committee on the post-election detentions also pointed that the committee is still insisting on its demand to meet the political prisoners in Evin prison.
Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor General Saeed Mortazavi has said that there seems to be no obstacles in this regard, he said.
