Iran: New Judiciary Chief to replace key prosecutors

TEHRAN, Aug. 20 (Mehr News Agency) - Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadq Larijani would appoint former intelligence minister Qolam Hossein Mohseni Ejei as the national prosecutor general, informed sources say.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissed Ejei from his post on July 25. Ejei will replace Qorban-Ali Dorri Najafabadi.

Ayatollah Larijani will also appoint Morteza Bakhtiari to the Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor General, replacing Saeed Mortazavi.

Bakhatiari is currently Isfahan governor general. He was director of the State Prisons Organization (SPO).

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the ninth administration, Mohammad Jahromi, will also join Judiciary to take over as the deputy Judiciary chief for administrative affairs.

Also, Inspection Organization Director Mostafa Pourmohammadi will remain in his post. Pourmohammadi was the interior minister in the previous administration but was dismissed by the president.

Although Deputy Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raesi was said to leave the Judiciary, he is going to remain in the post.

The other official who retains his post is Head of National Documents Organization and Deputy Judiciary Chief Hossein Ali Amiri.

Mohammad Javad Larijani, the brother of the Judiciary chief, will also remain in his post as the head of human rights headquarters in the Judiciary.
