TEHRAN, Aug. 31 (Mehr News Agency) -- Through the implementation of Fifth Five-Year
Development Plan (2010-2015), Iranian citizens will receive Electronic National
Identity Cards (E-NID), deputy head of Birth Registration Organization said here
Monday.
Referring to the readiness of the involved organizations in issuing the cards,
including Telecommunication Company of Iran, Saeed Abudi said that the e-cards
will definitely be issued by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan.
The electronic identity card (eID) is an official electronic proof of one's
identity. It also enables the possibility to sign electronic documents with a
legal signature.
The identity card has the format of a regular bankcard, with basic identity
information in visual format, such as personal details and a photograph.
