TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki reiterated the countries opposition against increasing the number of troops in Afghanistan saying it will not resolve the crisis in the country.
"Increasing troops in Afghanistan will not open the crisis tie in the country, we believe that respecting the sovereignty right of people and Afghan organizations established by people's vote and also handing over the political destiny to Afghanistan's nation is the real solution in this country," he said in a meeting with the President of Serbia's National Assembly.
Also Mottaki said Tehran-Belgrade ties have a positive momentum adding, Iran supports expansion of Balkan countries.
The two countries have great potentialities for promotion of economic ties and Iran's strategic policy is to balance cooperation with all European countries instead of confining it to certain countries, he added.
Iran calls for European countries to resist against unilateral and domineering approaches of acquisitiveness powers, he asserted.
Also the Serb official, Slavica Dukic Dejanovic said for her part that Serbia does not favor sanctions against Iran over its nuclear dispute and emphasizes on negotiation.
Meeting with, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, she said, "sanctions are useless levers and this approach is not acceptable. We call for dialogue in political interactions and resolving issues."
She also said Serbia has a positive assessment of ties with Iran and is ready to expand cooperation to higher levels.
