Payvand.com - On Sunday December 13, the students at Tehran University and several other universities held more protest rallies against the regime. The students are protesting the brutal attack on the students which took place on the National Students Day (December 7). They are also protesting what they call a staged act against the students and the opposition movement by the regime which has been using the state TV, its propaganda machine, to repeatedly broadcast a suspicious footage of tearing up a picture of Imam Khomeini, the founder of Islamic Republic, and accusing the students and the Green movement of being behind it. The students see this suspicious act by the regime as a precursor and excuse for harsher crackdowns of the Green movement and its leaders (Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi and Mohammad Khatami).

During the protests, students were carrying pictures of Imam Khomeini and placards against the state TV. They were also chanting "Greeting to Mousavi, Greetings to Khomeini", "The chancellor of the university must resign", "Khomeini where are you that Mousavi is left all alone", "Death to dictator" and "Incompetent chancellor! Resign, Resign" and were demanding the resignation of Farhad Rahbar the chancellor of Tehran University.

Following the controversy surrounding the broadcasting of the suspicious footage showing the tearing up of Imam Khomeini picture on state-run TV(pro-Ahmadinejad) and accusing the Green students of such act, students of Shahid Beheshti University held a gathering on December 13. In this gathering, students were carrying Imam Khomeini's pictures and chanting slogans in protest to the false accusations of the regime.

Meanwhile 2 buses full of Basijis we brought to the university from outside. Basijis were chanting slogans against the Green movement and Green leaders and this made the situation tense. The Basijis, with the encouragement of the officials of the university who were supporting them, physically confronted the students. The security of the university just witnessed these events and even intimidated the students. At the end students while emphasizing on their support for Green movement, strongly condemned of the new hoax by the coup government.
