Iran will choose its final option to produce 20 percent-enriched fuel if the West does not live up to its legal commitments, said Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

"Iran will choose its final option to produce 20 percent-enriched fuel if the West does not live up to its legal commitments and refuses to accept the two choices discussed for Tehran research reactor fuel," he said a press conference in Lebanon.

The two options included exchange of Iran's 3.5 percent domestically enriched uranium for 20 percent fuel enriched by the supplying countries or purchase of the fuel for Tehran's nuclear research reactor.

Also regarding the West's threats to impose new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, Mottaki said, "the West's hasty measure on Tehran's research reactor fuel, which is used for medical purposes, showed that it decides politically despite all of its commitments on human issues."

He also referred to the remarks of French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on Iran's peaceful nuclear program and said, "French officials should not repeat rhetoric and actions of the US and Britain which have failed over past years."

Elsewhere, he referred to the issue of Lebanon and Israel and said, "today, regional nations have found out how to resist against Zionist regime's crimes and overcome it."

Asked about conflicts in Yemen, Mottaki said "what is taking place in Yemen is a domestic issue and we should not interfere in it, Islamic Republic of Iran supports Yemen's national solidarity and territorial integrity."

He continued, "problems of the country can be resolved only through talks."

Meanwhile, Mottaki turned to Iran-Lebanon relations and called for fostering all-out relations between the two countries and activating joint economic commissions.
