TEHRAN, Feb. 2 (Mehr News Agency) -- Brazilian Marco Octávio Simoes Barbosa (Marco Octavio) has been appointed as head coach of Iran's beach soccer team.
Octavio, who has already coached Iran for six months, is set to prepare the team for the 2009 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which will be held in Dubai, the UAE.
Octavio guided Brazil to six World Championship titles, which remains a record. He moved to Portugal in 2001 and became the only coach to lead another country to the global crown. Octavio has also coached the Iranian team Shirin Faraz.
