Fajr Festival's International winners announced

The 27th Fajr Film Festival has announced the winners of its International Competition Section during a ceremony held in Tehran.

The Iran-sponsored Snow directed by Bosnian director Aida Begic received the Crystal Simorgh of the international section for the best film and best script Simorgh went to 9mm (France, Belgium) by Taylan Barman.

Japan's Best Wishes for Tomorrow won the Crystal Simorgh of the event's Eastern Vista: competition of Asian cinema and South Korean filmmaker Jeon Soo-Il received the Best Director award of the same section for his With a Girl of a Black Soil.

The Crystal Simorgh for feature debut went to Afghanistan's Kabuli Kid by Barmak Akram, while Derya Alabora won the Simorgh for Leading Actor for Pandora Box by Yesim Ustaoglu (Turkey, France, Germany, Belgium).

The Crystal Simorgh of the International Short Film Competition section went to Lida Fazli's Why Dogs Hate Cats (Iran) and David Dusa's Amin (France, Germany, the Netherlands).

Yu-jin Kim's Divine Weapon (South Korea) received the Simorgh Award for the best technical achievements.

The Audience Simorgh Award went to Iranian filmmaker Bahram Beizaei's When We Are All Sleeping.

The 2009 Fajr Film Festival, which kicked off on Feb. 1, 2009, will continue until Feb. 11.
