The late US-based Iranian doctor Nasser Talebzadeh Ordoubadi's brother denies media reports claiming he had died a suspicious death.

In an interview with Press TV, Nader Talebzadeh Ordoubadi denied that his brother had been one of the leading bioweapons researchers in the US and dismissed any link between his death and his profession.

"He was just a very good doctor critical of the American medical system," Talebzadeh said on Wednesday.

According to a Sunday report by Tabnak, Dr. Talebzadeh's achievements in finding a cure for bioweapons had made him the target of various accusations from the government of the United States and had consequently led to his "suspicious death."

"His aorta erupted and he went through several surgeries in Oregon and died last Friday in the hospital," Nader Talebzadeh explained.

Turning to his brother's legal background, Talebzadeh said Dr. Nasser's residence was raided by the FBI "just because he was Iranian and one of the pioneering doctors in Seattle according to various magazines."

In 2000, the Iranian doctor was sentenced to 35 months in prison on charges of health care and mail fraud under the new HIPAA regulations (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996).
